From Punta Negra north along the Pacific coast are a variety of fishing villages each typically within 60 - 90 minutes drive of Puerto Vallarta.  Principle among them is Sayulita where Federal Hwy 200 reaches the coast after crossing over the mountains from Bucerias. Surfing is a popular watersport in Sayulita and with it comes a bohemium feel to the town.  While surfing is popular in other towns, too, each village has its own personality and feel.
